Bargoed, Mid-Glamorgan
Angharad Parsons is a self-employed livestock farmer and partner at Penygarreg Farm in Mid-Glamorgan, where she manages a 250-acre family holding focused on sheep production.
Originally from a non-farming background, Angharad began her career in the medical field, training and working as a Physician Associate within the NHS. In 2022, she made a life-changing decision to return to her family’s farm to support her grandfather. Following his sudden passing, she took on the challenge of managing the farm independently, developing her skills rapidly and building a sustainable enterprise.
Angharad now manages a flock of around 400 breeding ewes, overseeing all aspects of farm operations including livestock husbandry, land management, compliance and financial planning. She has a strong interest in improving efficiency and exploring opportunities for diversification, alongside a growing passion for regenerative approaches to farming.
Motivated by a desire to build knowledge, networks and long-term resilience, Angharad is committed to developing a viable and sustainable future for the family business while adapting to the challenges facing modern agriculture.
