Llanbrynmair, Powys
John Jones is based in Llanbrynmair, where he is involved in managing a 400-acre hill farming enterprise alongside his full-time building business. Balancing both commitments, John plays an active role in the day-to-day running of the farm, contributing to livestock management, grassland use and wider operational decisions within the family business.
Working in partnership, the farm consists of sheep and cattle enterprises, with John contributing to the development and direction of the business while maintaining a strong practical involvement in routine farming activities. His role reflects a combination of hands-on experience and an increasing engagement in strategic decision-making.
John has a particular interest in improving farm performance through the use of data and recording systems, recognising the value of informed decision-making to support productivity and efficiency. This reflects a forward-thinking approach to strengthening the business in a changing agricultural environment.
Outside of farming, John has competed in clay pigeon shooting at a national level and has represented Wales for a number of years.
Through the Agri Academy, he is keen to gain new ideas and practical insights to support the modernisation and long-term development of the family farming enterprise.
