This year’s Adult Learners’ Week campaign is set to take place from 21 to 27 September 2026 with promotional activity taking place throughout the month.
The annual campaign festival is organised by Learning and Work Institute (L&W) in partnership with the Welsh Government and presents a special opportunity for people to embrace new opportunities to learn, seek new connections and information, whilst showcasing the powerful impact of lifelong learning on individuals, projects, and organisations Wales.
Skills for Work Day on 23 September 2026, is one of the five key theme days of the campaign week, highlighting the importance of developing the skills, knowledge and confidence people need to thrive in work and progress in their careers.
Taking part in Skills for Work Day is a simple way for employers to show their commitment to developing people and building a stronger workplace learning culture. Whether you host a taster session, showcase existing training, celebrate staff achievements or start a conversation about future skills, your involvement can inspire more people to take their next step in learning. If you’re unable to coordinate activities on 23 September, you can plan your activities at any time throughout the focus week or throughout September.
Simple ways to get involved – workplace learning doesn’t require formal qualifications or a massive time commitment. It can be built into the working week through simple activities, such as:
- Learning lunches: Informal sessions where staff share skills or insights.
- Taster sessions: Short workshops introducing a new topic or tool.
- Team discussions: Creative team building exercises to build confidence and speak curiosity.
- Guest speakers: Inviting a speaker to share insights on a relevant topic.
- Celebrate staff: Share staff success stories and learning journeys
