In 2023, over 17,000 survivors of Modern Slavery were identified in the UK. Even after a dedicated period of recovery, survivors can still face a number of practical and emotional barriers to finding safe and permanent employment as a result of their exploitation.
Bright Future Co-operative aims to break down these barriers by offering a fast-tracked and supportive pathway to safe employment. The organisation already works with several companies across the UK to achieve this, including Morrisons, Curry’s, Balfour Beatty, and The Co-op Group. For survivors, safe employment offers control over their futures and financial freedom to reduce the risk of re-exploitation and enable them to reach sustainable independence.
Bright Future Co-operative has recently expanded into Wales and is keen to work with businesses to support survivors of Modern Slavery to access employment. There is a high demand for accessible roles in Wales for survivors.
Getting involved with Bright Future Co-operative is an excellent social value initiative to strengthen your sustainability efforts and diversify your workforce with a resilient demographic.
