The Welsh Government Export Team recently produced a set of webinars aimed at supporting Welsh exporters to prepare for the end of the EU transition period. Delivered in partnership with international trade consultants and the South Wales Chamber of Commerce the following four topics were covered:
- Brexit – Understanding Rules of Origin: Rules of Origin are used to define where a product was made and determines the import duty they are subject to. This simple fact is about to become very important to exporters in the post-Brexit era.
- Brexit – Working with agents and distributors: When entering a new export market, the easiest, lowest risk route is often via an agent or distributor. A suitably experienced, well-positioned and connected one can give you fast access to the market. But how do you choose and how do you get the best out of them?
- Brexit – Your exports and Free Trade Agreements, what next?: What are Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and what do they mean to you and your business? Currently, we trade with the rest of the world under FTAs agreed and negotiated by the EU. That all changes at the end of this year. What will this mean for your export business?
- Customs Declarations, post Brexit: Everything is about to change, and you need to be ready! Post Brexit, there will be extra demands on exporters and importers alike in terms of customs declarations and procedures. Are you prepared?
