Flexible Skills Programme – Update on re-launched AI Skills Pilot

AI online training

Building on the successful introduction of an AI skills pilot within the Flexible Skills Programme in February 2026, we are re-launching a refreshed pilot to continue to support a range of AI training to help Welsh businesses grow and build AI expertise.

The refreshed pilot will focus on supporting the next stage of AI learning for businesses – targeting business specific use cases and upskilling activity.

The pilot will continue to run alongside a range of introductory level support on AI skills provided by Business Wales, which should be the starting point for businesses on AI.

Eligibility requirements for the pilot are in line with the broader Programme. There is no requirement to use any particular training company – the applicant may choose any certified training provider – but any training activity supported on this programme must be Level 2 or above, as assigned by a regulated awarding body determined by the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales

The pilot will run until the end of March 2027 and Welsh Government will continue to provide an enhanced 75% contribution to training costs.

If you think you are eligible and are interested in applying for this funding, please complete the Expression of Interest form.
