The UK has left the EU and some regulations have changed for the effective and safe management of chemicals as the UK has established independent regulatory regimes.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have updated their guidance for the following:
- Biocides guidance has details of the GB BPR requirements for biocidal products in Great Britain.
- Biocides Brexit page highlights the main differences between EU BPR and GB BPR as well as the things that are unchanged.
- Fact sheets with detailed information for businesses that want to gain, or maintain, access to the GB market after 31 December 2020.
- See the list of GB authorised biocidal products which provides details of biocidal products which can be supplied in Great Britain.
- Chemicals placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) are regulated by the GB Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulation, known as GB CLP. Visit the updated CLP website contains guidance on how to comply with the GB CLP Regulation.
- The Great Britain Export and Import of Hazardous Chemicals Regulation (GB PIC) now applies in England, Scotland and Wales. Businesses exporting or importing PIC-listed chemicals from or to Great Britain are required to comply with the new GB PIC regime. Visit the HSE website for more information on the PIC regulations.
- An independent pesticides regulatory regime is now in operation in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales). New decisions taken under the EU regime do not apply in Great Britain. The GB Plant Protection Products (PPP) regime makes independent decisions on active substance and maximum residue level. The HSE website has guidance on the changes to legislation and how Brexit may affect PPP regulation.
- The EU REACH Regulation was brought into UK law on 1 January 2021. This is known as UK REACH.
