This summer’s National Eisteddfod in Wrexham will be more than a cultural celebration, it will also serve as a launchpad for Welsh innovation and entrepreneurship.
Business Wales and Big Ideas Wales is delivering a week-long programme designed to empower and engage the next generation of business leaders.
Running from 2 to 9 August, the Welsh Government-backed services will host a dynamic line-up of workshops, panels, and competitions from stands 415 to 416. Each day will focus on a unique theme, from digital innovation to youth enterprise, all with a spotlight on the role of the Welsh language in business.
Festivalgoers will have the chance to connect with experienced entrepreneurs and Big Ideas Wales Role Models, share ideas, and gain real-world advice from those who’ve already launched their own ventures. One featured guest is Shoned Owen, who transformed her mobile spray tan service into an award-winning product line – a powerful example of how local ideas can lead to big success.
One of the most anticipated sessions, a Tea & Panel event on Sunday 3 August, will explore how the Welsh language can drive business growth. Guest speakers include Angharad Gwyn (founder of Adra), Megan Llŷn (founder of Amdanat), and Maiwenn Berry, Chief Officer of Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam.
If you're curious about the future of business tech, don't miss Monday 4 August, when Digital Advisers Liam Kurmos and Siôn Huws will explore the use of AI in business, accompanied by an immersive, interactive VR experience. On Wednesday 6 August, Awen Ashworth from Inspire by Sbarduno will deliver a fun, hands-on science session to spark entrepreneurial thinking.
A major highlight of the week is the Business Idea Competition, where visitors can pitch their ideas throughout the event. The winning prize will be revealed during the Crowning Ceremony on the final day.
In keeping with the Eisteddfod's spirit of creativity, Thursday's programme features a unique and imaginative interview with Gareth the Orangutan, offering a playful yet insightful take on what it means to start a business in today’s Wales.
Together, Business Wales and Big Ideas Wales are bringing energy, creativity, and practical support to this year’s Eisteddfod – helping ensure that the future of Welsh business is as bold and bright as the culture being celebrated all around it.
