The mandate for the Health and Social Care community to take action on the climate emergency has never been stronger – it’s time to act:
- Net Zero Wales Carbon Budget 2 (2021 to 2025) | GOV.WALES
- NHS Wales Decarbonisation Strategic Delivery Plan
- Health Impacts of Climate Change
You should know:
- Emissions from Health and Social Care are the largest of the public sector
- The Health and Social Care Sector need to reduce emissions by a minimum of 16% by 2025 and 34% by 2030
- The Social Care Decarbonisation Route Map to support the sector on this journey is due to be published this summer
Be inspired and get involved in the action:
- If you are a small-mid sized provider (less than 250 employees) you could sign the Green Growth Pledge to make a commitment of reducing your carbon footprint. Business Wales will support you with this, as well as offering great support – for free!
- If you are a larger social care provider, do not fear! You could consider working towards achieving the Green Dragon Environment Standard
- The Circular Economy Innovation Communities (CEIC) is a fully funded 10 month programme where you can meet like-minded people and co-create new service solutions, to minimise social care’s impact on the climate, e-mail ceic@cardiffmet.ac.uk for more info
