Written Statement: Publication of the Government response to the consultation on the Introduction of mandatory Digital Waste Tracking

I am pleased to announce the publication of the Government response to the consultation on the mandatory Digital Waste Tracking Service. The response is published jointly with the UK Government, the Department for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, Northern Ireland, and the Scottish Government.

This follows a joint consultation between January and April 2022 and feedback from this consultation is being used in developing the digital waste tracking service.  A summary of responses was published last December. 

We are using the responses to the consultation to review and refine our proposals which will then be reflected in secondary legislation and shape the digital design of a UK wide waste tracking service.
