In 2016, the National Botanic Garden of Wales started looking at ways to diversify its income and attract more visitors to the garden. When it decided to partner with a bird of prey centre to create a new aviary attraction, it called on Social Business Wales to help broker the deal.

Standing 106 metres above the Menai Strait, the Marquess of Anglesey’s Column was constructed in 1817 is a memorial to the 1st Marquess of Anglesey’s important role in the battle of Waterloo. The column has consistently stood as a popular landmark and has attracted tourists keen to scale its 115 steps and enjoy panoramic views of North-west Wales.

Pete Humphreys founded YAB as an online charity in the aftermath of his father’s death from bowel cancer, with a long-term goal of setting-up a community hub to help all types of vulnerable people.

A non-profit social enterprise, YAB provides support and activities to vulnerable people, playing a vital role as an activity centre and workshop venue during the day and a community bistro in the evenings.
