Business Wales had contacts and advice that steered me in a more productive direction. They were there when I had any doubts and there was always someone to help me along each stage of development.
The first Vegan Butchers in Wales was opened in Barry by Karry Meyrick with advice and support from Business Wales. The all-plant-based food service, Karry’s Deli, opened during the pandemic in August last year.
Karry contacted us after she had suggested the idea on a local social media group and people showed a lot of interest. She attended a Starting and Running your own Business webinar and received bespoke 1-2-1 advice from an experienced business adviser, which subsequently enabled her to start her own business.
The initial opening of the business was extremely busy and when it started to get a little too much for Karry, she reached out to her adviser for additional support. She was matched with a volunteer business mentor who has been in regular contact ever since and has helped Karry to grow the business sustainably.
Karry has also signed up to the Green Growth Pledge where she proactively sources Welsh producers to encourage carbon footprint reduction. Also, in the hope of introducing more Welsh language and culture within her business, Karry has signed up to our Equality Pledge.
