For many young people, playing video games sparks imagination. For this creator, it sparked a lifelong journey.

From an early age, he was driven by a fascination with games - not just playing them, but understanding how they were made. With no clear roadmap and little awareness that it could even become a career, he began teaching himself the skills needed to bring ideas to life. Coding, art, music - each piece was self-learned through curiosity, persistence, and a genuine love for the craft.

What started as a personal passion soon became something much more.

Through determination and discipline, he carved out his own path in a highly competitive industry. Working independently at first, he built his skills, developed his style, and continued to push his creative boundaries. That journey eventually led to co-founding Rarebit Studios, marking the transition from solo creator to collaborative studio developer - without ever losing the creative freedom that inspired him in the first place.

His creative influences include respected figures like Dan Paladin and Edmund McMillen - developers known for their distinctive artistic styles and bold, unconventional games. But it wasn’t just artistic inspiration that shaped his path. Seeing pioneers like the founder of Newgrounds grow an idea from a small, playful online platform into a successful, independent studio proved that it was possible to succeed on his own terms - without compromising creativity.

Like many self-employed creatives, the journey hasn’t always been straightforward. The world of game development is constantly evolving, with new tools, technologies, and expectations emerging all the time. There have been moments of uncertainty and times where a complete change of direction was needed. But through it all, one constant remained: the drive to keep creating. Even through peaks and troughs, he found his way back to making games.

Today, his work spans video game design and development, art and animation, music production, and website design - a reflection of the diverse skill set he’s built over years of dedication.

Being his own boss brings freedom - the freedom to create what he believes in, to choose his projects, and to shape his own schedule. But that freedom comes with responsibility. Success in this space depends on motivation, resilience, and the discipline to keep going even when things get tough.

His story is a powerful reminder that there is no single path into the creative industries. With passion, persistence, and the courage to learn independently, it’s possible to turn what you love into a career - and build something entirely your own along the way.
