Offender Employability

The Welsh Government, working with HMPPS Wales, provides prisoners in Wales with a high-quality learning and skills provision focused on employability, increasing their chance of finding sustainable employment upon release.

• Leverage the skills these individuals have acquired throughout their lives and while in prison.
• If you have specific skills needs, speak to your Business Wales Adviser about developing the skills base within the prison population.

Current statistics show that only a small minority of prisoners gain employment within a year of release, despite being eligible and suitably skilled. Many employers are starting to recognise the benefits of employing ex-offenders.
