I wanted to pursue a passion of creating games and animation alongside an identified need to give back to good causes around animal welfare. Animals don’t have a voice, and we have a responsibility to help those who can’t help themselves in my view, and therefore bringing new audiences to old donation models has been the catalyst for change for me/us at Hangry Animals.
Incidentally the driver for all of this came from my use of art as a means of therapy during a stressful time in mt career. Creating fictitious worlds of human hybrid beings and the adventures they would go on, was a starting point for all of this.
Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, Batman, Transformers, He-Man, Rick and Morty, Invincible you name it. Cartoons and Comics inspire me to create worlds where my creations exist in a similar way to the aforementioned titles. I’m also inspired by ancient history and pre-history surrounding species with amnesia, great floods and aliens! I love a good alien conspiracy. All of this combined with natural disasters, climate change and the plight of all living beings in the universe. Put all of this in a melting pot of ideas to raise awareness of habitat destruction, welfare and societal problems, Hangry Animals was born.
I am a late diagnosed ADHD person. I’ve struggled with normal 9-5 desk jobs all my life but due to the necessity to make a living and do well, was always forced into places which did not fit well with my work ethic or timeframe, and I did not know why until 2023 where I was diagnosed with combined inattentive and hyperactive ADHD… the best kind hah. What this has unknowingly abled me to do is learn new skills fast, adapt to situations and obstacles in a surprisingly calm way. It’s also taught me the value of believing in ones abilities. Overcoming the stigma and the sever masking of these traits AND succeeding in business has taken exhausting effort to find the balance to great detriment to my physical and mental health. But I’m now thriving and making cool products that seem to be resonating with people.
Freedom to choose what and when I deep dive into focus on projects. Pick my own hours, reward myself for jobs or projects well done and take time to reflect and time to relax when I want. It can be hard to switch off but having the freedom and discipline to know when I need it, is key. I choose my hours; I choose the projects and I love it.
