Laura Teare-Jones is a hormone & mindset coach turned business mentor.
“I support people to prioritise what matters most to them. As well as 1:1 coaching, I have two group memberships to support people with their wellbeing, and with their business, and I run a networking and co-working event in Chester, called GET **IT DONE CLUB.”
When I was diagnosed with premenstrual dysphoric disorder, I realised that the typical Monday-Friday 9-5 model was not going to work for me and my imperfect health.
I had to do a lot of learning (and un-learning) about myself and my body, and I started a podcast during lockdown called My Hormones My Health.
When I was made redundant in 2020, I decided to go self-employed.
When I was made redundant, I remember being so nervous about being self-employed! I lacked belief in myself, but what helped was surrounding myself with other people who were just like me but doing amazing things in business! It inspired me to know that if they can do it, then so can I!
I also read a book called “Be A Free-Range Human” by Marianne Cantwell, which I recommend to everyone.
The biggest problem I have faced is getting in my own way, and limiting my success because of my own mindset, and thinking I am not good enough, or that I should be doing things a certain way.
I have learnt that you don’t need to have it all figured out, and there is a solution for every problem, and a person who can help!
Because of my health condition, I have to be careful not to overload myself, and so the best thing about being self-employed is having the power to control my work diary, and my days off. If I need to start work a bit later on some days, that’s okay, and if I need to slow things down, that’s okay too.
I couldn’t do that when I was employed, as I was expected to show up in the same way and perform the same way, every day, and that isn’t realistic or sustainable for a person like me.
