Layscanning (PD Your Cows) Course
4-day Lay scanning Training DEFRA Approved Course for Farmers
This is a course aimed at non-veterinarians who wish to learn the art of pregnancy diagnosis for own farm use or as a commercial enterprise. Scanning is the most accurate method of pregnancy diagnosing cows. In comparison to other methods scanning is the most time effective method and has minimal stress on the animal. The ability to date pregnancies and early determination of barren cows gives farmers a huge advantage in forward planning.
This comprehensive course covers the following modules, with extensive practical hands-on involvement:
- Anatomy of the Pelvic Region
- Physiology of Reproduction
- Theory of Ultrasonography
- Scanning Techniques – includes discussing and using several models of scanning machines
- Animal Welfare
- Operator Hygiene and Disease Control
- Theory and physics of Ultrasound
- Record Keeping
