According to UK Government statistics, wind power accounted for 28.8% of the UK’s total grid electricity in 2023. Besides the energy used to build and install wind turbines themselves, the electricity they generate is renewable and carbon free because the turbines do not use a depletable fuel source like diesel or gas. Therefore, as long as the wind blows, wind turbines generate clean electricity that reduces our dependence on the electrical grid and fossil fuels.
