When Every Second Counts: Practical First Aid for Farmers

Farming is one of the most dangerous industries in Wales, and when an accident happens, the actions taken in the first few minutes can make all the difference. That's why the Wales Farm Safety Partnership (WFSP) ] and the medical team behind the Wales Air Ambulance - The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) have joined forces to deliver practical, hands-on emergency first aid workshop tailored specifically for farmers and farm workers.



Wales Air Ambulance and the EMRTS attends an average of 90 farming-related incidents every year, many involving serious medical and traumatic emergencies such as;

· Vehicle incidents

· crush injuries

· livestock incidents

· Cardiac arrests



This interactive workshop will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in a farm emergency while waiting for professional medical help to arrive.

Through realistic farm-based scenarios, participants will learn vital life-saving skills including:

· CPR and Basic Life Support

The management of catastrophic bleeding

· Responding to crush injuries

· Burns injuries

· Handling emergencies in remote rural locations where help may be delayed.

This event is eligible for SFS UA4.

If a business partner attends, the participation hours will count towards SFS UA4 Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
