From charcuterie to utilising traditional pig breeds, there are many options available to add value to home-produced pork and increase revenues from pork production in Wales.

Many people produce pork for themselves or to sell locally and there is consumer demand for sustainably produced pork born and reared in Wales. A series of three events on the options available for adding value to home-produced pork have been organised by Farming Connect and Cywain, a project dedicated to adding value to Welsh produce.

Speakers from Cywain will focus on the support and guidance available for adding value. They will also discuss the steps to take when developing new products and the main factors to consider when slaughtering for a specific contract. Illtud Dunsford, of Charcutier Ltd will share his experiences in adding value to home produced pork and discuss the demand for high quality pork products from Wales and utilising the attributes of traditional pig breeds.
