Key areas you wish to focus on as a demonstration farmer?

Utilising satellite technology to measure grass covers: “This technology could help us to streamline grassland management with a high degree of accuracy, and it would make sure that the job gets done!’’

Genomic testing of heifer replacements: “Genomic testing could help us to select the best herd replacements to match the requirements of our system. We feel there are real gains to be made from this, by eliminating poor genetics so that only the very best animals are retained within the herd.’’

To investigate the benefits of herbal leys in a dairy system. “We are keen to reduce our reliance on bagged nitrogen while still growing the same amount of grass.’’

William Hannah head and shoulders

"We aim to farm in a way that matches our environment, by playing to the strengths of what Pembrokeshire has to offer - calving outside and making the most of grass - but there is always room for improvement. It will be good to have the input of others in our capacity at a Farming Connect Demonstration Site and to share ideas and knowledge. There is always something that everyone can learn."
