Richard James Jones is a self-employed farmer based near Dolgellau, where he manages a 430-acre diversified farming and tourism business in the heart of Eryri. Since taking over the family farm in 2020, he has been responsible for developing and modernising the enterprise, combining traditional livestock farming with a growing hospitality offering.
The business includes sheep and cattle enterprises alongside holiday accommodation, glamping and equestrian activities. Richard plays a central role in all aspects of the operation, including land management, livestock care, marketing, customer engagement and financial management. He has successfully built a strong online presence, helping to promote the business and attract visitors to the area.
Richard brings a broad range of experience, having worked across different sectors including dairy and poultry production before returning to run the family farm. This has helped shape a progressive approach to business development and diversification.
Looking ahead, he is focused on further improving sustainability and resilience through renewable energy investment, conservation practices and continued diversification. Through the Agri Academy, Richard is keen to build on his experience, gain fresh ideas and continue developing a forward-thinking and environmentally responsible farming business.
