This is an established family farm with centrally located buildings and good access for HGVs. I am now looking to take a step back from active farming and would welcome someone who can bring time, energy and new ideas to the business, helping to shape its future while sharing in the rewards.
Our goals for the next 5 years:
- Step back from the day-to-day running of the farm
- Secure the long-term success of the farm, with openness to diversification opportunities
- Maintain the farm’s organic status
About the farm:
Location (nearest town): Abergavenny
Land area available: 275 acres / 111 Ha, comprising an organic holding of 205 acres and a further 70 conventional acres located a 5-minute drive away.
Infrastructure available, i.e. buildings and handling facilities: Three cattle sheds, a barn, additional storage buildings, and handling facilities are available on the organic holding. On the second holding, there is a new cattle shed with handling facilities and an old Dutch barn for storage.
Livestock available: An organic beef herd totaling 60 head, together with a separate small pedigree Belted Galloway herd.
Machinery available: Yes – the usual grassland management machinery for a livestock farm, including two tractors, a mower, tedder, grass harrow, quad bike, and stock box.
Accommodation for the Seeker: Yes, from the end of 2026. A three-bedroom house is currently being built and will be completed by the end of 2026. In the short term, there is potential to rent nearby or use an Airbnb at the end of the road.
The local area: Set in the rolling countryside of North Monmouthshire, between Abergavenny and Monmouth.
About the opportunity:
Type of agreement being considered: Joint venture/share farming initially, with the potential to move to a tenancy agreement in future if the arrangement proves successful.
Key characteristics the landowner is looking for in a business partner: Someone enthusiastic, hard-working and able to bring fresh ideas to the farm. Ideally, they would also be able to bring, or develop, a flock of around 200 ewes.
