Abi and Rich

PLANED, the leading community development charity organisation based in West Wales, has been successful in obtaining funding and now given the green light by the Welsh Government to deliver the Pembrokeshire Fresh Food Vending Initiative in Pembrokeshire.

Abi Marriott, Project Coordinator says ‘”This is a fantastic pilot project that will deliver alongside the current Wales Community Food Distribution Project within PLANED, and will operate a flexible, inclusive, environmentally and economically sustainable distribution model, bringing together community groups, food producers and suppliers in Wales stimulating Wales food supply chains.”

Led by PLANED, this project has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the Welsh Government and the pilot will respond to Covid 19 recovery and enable communities across Pembrokeshire to access locally produced food.

Iwan Thomas CEO says: “As we have seen during recent lockdowns, local supply chains and provenance of particularly local produce has become increasingly important, and this PLANED project will not only support this, but also look to add value to our local economies within those communities and their wide well-being.”
