Good for environment.. wildlife.. etc.

After the successful delivery of The Woodland Investment Grant pilot last year, today we have opened a new window for expressions of interest which will close on the 15th July.

This new round is jointly funded by the Welsh Government and The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Applications should be made via the National Lottery Heritage Fund portal.

The scheme is once again open to landowners and managers, including not-for-profit organisations. It will provide support for people to create new woodlands and/or enhance and expand existing woodlands, in accordance with the UK Forestry Standard.

These woodlands must have the potential to become part of the National Forest network in the future. This means woodlands that are well-managed, accessible to people and give local communities the opportunity to get involved in woodlands and nature. Further information on the National Forest can be found at the following link: National Forest for Wales | GOV.WALES

The scheme will offer:

  • grants of £40,000 – £250,000 (exceptional projects costing more may be considered),
  • up to 100% funding,
  • up to 2 years to deliver the project,
  • capital and revenue funding,
  • funding which can be blended with other complimentary grants and sources of funding,
  • advice and support to plan your project and on how to apply

A further round is planned for later in the year.

Please familiarise yourself with the guidance and the National Forest programme before applying, to note there are some changes since the pilot. Full details on the scheme can be found on the National Lottery Heritage Fund website. The Woodland Investment Grant (TWIG) | The National Lottery Heritage Fund
