Relevant experience, skills, qualifications

  • Haydn Evans is an experienced farmer and businessman known for his ‘whole farm’ approach to improving business performance and sustainability.
  • Before establishing his own dairy enterprise near Carmarthen around 30 years ago, Haydn spent many years working as a rural bank manager. His financial expertise combined with practical farming experience means he understands the commercial realities and day-to-day pressures faced by farming families.
  • Building up his own dairy business has given Haydn a strong appreciation of the challenges faced by new entrants, and the importance of having a sound strategy backed up with financial discipline.
  • In addition to analysing business performance, including profitability, budgeting and cash flow, Haydn is skilled at facilitating open and constructive conversations around wider farm business issues such as succession planning, diversification and long-term strategy. His knowledgeable, balanced approach has enabled numerous farmers to progress business ideas and build resilience when facing complex decisions.
  • Haydn also works collaboratively within the dairy supply chain. He represents a group of 10 family farms supplying milk to Rachel’s Dairy and is actively involved in discussions around procurement, pricing and contracts. This experience has given him valuable insight into negotiation and an understanding of the strengths and risks within supply agreements.
  • A strong advocate for soil health and efficient forage production, Haydn regularly conducts soil sampling, keeping detailed records to support productive, resilient grassland systems.
  • As a Farming Connect Agrisgôp leader, Haydn will facilitate group discussions where farmers can learn through action learning, drawing on each other’s experiences as well as from invited experts or farm visits. His role is to guide conversations, challenge thinking and help members identify solutions that will work for them.
