The Cognation mtb trail South Wales project (mountain bike) was led by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council (NPTCBC) and was supported by Visit Wales, Caerphilly CBC, Merthyr Tydfil CBC and Forestry Commission Wales (FCW). Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council are now seeking RDP funding to build upon the success of the Cognation Bike Give Sustain pilot project by undertaking the following activities:
- Increase the number of branded donation boxes installed in businesses
- Establish a visiting giving scheme in accommodation businesses using an opt out system, where visitors are charged an additional donation amount at the point of booking, which they can chose not to pay
- Explore the feasibility of developing a membership scheme for mountain bikers with rewards and offers from Afan Forest Park businesses to incentivise participation. The scheme would seek to bring local businesses together to achieve a common goal, encouraging greater partnership working
- Cultivate relationships with retailers and manufacturers in order to merchandise Cognation branded goods
- Develop professional fundraising initiatives to target potential corporate sponsors and other sources of public, third and private sector investment
