Cyd Ynni - Study for Energy supply to businesses

The purpose of this project would be to determine the feasibility, practicality and cost-effectiveness of supplying electricity to local businesses from community-owned renewable generators. We would like to ascertain which model of supply would best suit various scenarios including a private wire, local energy club, peer-to-peer and others. Support from a specialist is needed to determine the costs associated with the different models, identify any barriers and set out the steps needed to implement each model. The member-groups that make up Cyd Ynni have already designed, built, and operate renewable electricity generators, mainly hydro turbines. Additionally, we already supply electricity to some domestic properties in the area using the local energy club model. We do not currently sell to businesses, but are keen to do so.
