Hydroponics

A feasibility study to seeking to:
  • Prepare a business model for a Gwynedd Hydroponics scheme
  • Outline the technical requirements for the model
  • Outline the cost requirements to establish the model.
The project will involve establishing a hydroponics centre of excellence at Glynllifon Farm (Part of the Coleg Llandrillo Menai Group) that will inform and educate the farming community about the latest non-soil based growing techniques. The project will also look to identify an area based production and distribution model that could involve a cluster of interdependent growers across North West Wales and beyond. The idea has been proposed by Be Nesa Llyn, which is a group of Pen Llyn businesses that are looking to secure a more prosperous future for the area. They have already established a local investment fund using their own resources and are now looking at more innovative interventions. Menter Mn have worked with the group as part of the Gwynedd Leader Project, and have developed the project in partnership with Glynllifon.
