Small and Dry

Can farm waste such as farmyard manure and other organic materials, be managed sustainably by using it to generate biogas (fuel) in an Dry Anerobic Digester and to create useful by-products particularly a fertiliser? Is such a batch system feasible and how does it fit with current or adjustable farming practice?

Is it likely to lead to better nutrient management and less diffuse pollution? Investigation into the options for a micro dry digester solution for upland beef herds with the incorporation of the likes of bracken, molinia and soft rush. The study will concentrate on two National Trust tenanted farms within Snowdonia National Park. By studying real cases, rather than hypothetical scenarios, it is expected that the commissioned report will demonstrate under what methods and options a micro dry digester can work to manage waste and nutrients and generate low carbon energy.
