STAR

The projects aim is to increase awareness of healthy relationships and the impact of abusive behaviour which can be face to face, in the media and using electronic devices. To encourage and support change in attitudes towards their peers, the wider community and relationships, to also increase awareness of external agencies available for support. The STAR (Safety Trust and Respect) Programme aims explores their attitudes towards their own relationships that they are currently in or are about to begin. The sessions work best when they are small, as they feel safe and able to share; the groups can be made up of same or mixed gender groups. The young people are encouraged to share their opinions and to challenge each other through discussion and watching DVDs. The groups are aimed to be fun, engaging and thought provoking.
