Reach was approached by the Garw Valley Senior Boys & Girls Club to help them work with other local sports clubs to explore the possibility of sharing facilities and co-managing them. The proposal from the Club was that by having fewer facilities to manage in the area it will be possible to have better quality facilities such as changing rooms and storage, no longer having to make do with outdated and run down facilities which cannot all be sustained. Working with the Club, Reach brought other stakeholders to the table, including sports governing bodies, and together this collaborative group commissioned a project to look at the feasibility of establishing sustainable sport-based community hub/s in the Garw valley.
This model has been successfully implemented in many areas including Kidwelly in Swansea where rugby, football, cricket, tennis and bowls have come together take over ownership from the local authority and manage the playing fields and build a new pavilion.
