This project’s primary aims are to reconnect fragmented habitats, particularly woodland habitats, and address water resource management issues, primarily in the Alun and Chwiler river valleys; and engage local landholders and communities to tackle these issues. Habitat fragmentation remains a significant threat to wildlife including populations of protected species present in the area such as dormouse (proven to be declining in the Chwiler Valley), water vole (declining nationwide with local threats from mink), lesser horseshoe bat (for whom habitat connectivity is vital) and great crested newt.
