Panel Gweithredu

LEADER staff have recently participated in a European Network for Rural Development (ENRD).

LEADER Thematic Lab on climate change mitigation and adaptation. As the only representative from the UK, Arwain Sir Benfro was part of a panel with Local Action Group (LAG) representatives from France, Sweden, Catalonia and Belgium.

The ENRD LEADER Thematic Lab involved LEADER stakeholders in exploring, discussing and sharing their experiences and approaches. The participants discussed practical suggestions for how LEADER can be an initiator, planner, facilitator and supporter of climate action in local rural territories.

The event offered an opportunity to highlight the community led work going on in Pembrokeshire supported by LEADER, and also how LEADER principles are consistent with the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015, which seeks, amongst other things, to change the way that public bodies make decisions and deliver services across Wales.

The meeting identified the elements of an enabling LEADER framework for informing and supporting LAGs’ work with climate action locally. This included identifying success factors and lessons learnt in this programming period and how these could be applied in the context of future CAP Strategic Plans.

PLANED is the secretariat for the LEADER programme, helping Arwain Sir Benfro to deliver the funding in the county. This project has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities - Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.
