Tourism funding to build better destinations

 

1.    Antur Stiniog Cyf – New bike trail network at Blaenau – funding £96,000.

New bike trail network with the addition of three new trails to the existing trail network at the Llechwedd site and develop and restructure one of the original trails to appeal to a wider market. There will be a new blue grade trail (1.4km long) to appeal families and beginners; a new red trail (1km long)  suitable for intermediates, a new black section (0.7km) to link to the existing trail network. 

2.    Ymddiriedolaeth Clough Williams-Ellis Foundation – Plas Brondanw car park – funding £56,000 

Create a new 50 space car park located in the field to the south of the gardens as well as 2 coach spaces providing improved pedestrian and vehicle access to Plas Brondanw Gardens, Café and Gallery.

3.    Snowdonia National Park Authority – Canolfan Ogwen – funding £79,664.80

New external signage, noticeboards, additional seating including 5 accessible picnic tables, 5 benches outside and 5 inside the Centre with 2 with mobile phone charging points. New interpretation within the Centre and new exhibition with audio descriptions and headphone jacks. Provide car and bike charging points.

4.    Conwy County Borough Council – Gwydir Park Public Toilets and Cycle Facilities – funding  £128,000

Demolish old public toilet facilities and replace with new contemporary facility with renewable energy, rainwater harvesting and open all year round. The building will provide cycle & bike equipment storage.

5.    Snowdonia National Park Authority – Nant Peris – funding £69,680

Upgrade toilets, install solar all weather bus shelter at Nant Peris bus stop, bench with a solar powered mobile phone charger, and electric vehicle charging points at the car park.

6.    Snowdonia National Park Authority – Dol Idris car parking & public convenience improvement funding £74,800 

Refurbish toilet facilities on site; install electricity supply to toilet block providing lighting, a power supply to the car park, pay and display machine, and power supply for an electric vehicle charging point. Install telephone and broadband line to the site to enable card payment in the car park and display machine. Resurfacing the car park to include designated parking bays for blue badge holders and designated bays for electric vehicles.

7.    Cyngor Gwynedd Council – Gwedd 2 - Plas Heli – funding £128,000 

Upgrade the infrastructure & facilities relating to the Plas Heli National Sailing Academy, including activities space, quay wall, parking, beach access, safety measures & landscaping.

8.    Dwr Cymru Cyf – Llyn Brenig Visitor Centre Enhancements – funding £119,312.80 

The work will include the installation of cameras and supporting technology to provide access to high quality images of breeding ospreys. Access improvements surfacing 296m of existing forestry track at Llyn Brenig and Signage improvements including new directional exit route signage. 

9.    Welshpool & Llanfair Railway Preservation Co Ltd – Our 2020 Vision – funding £89,054 

Enlarge storage building to house heritage rolling stock at Welshpool Raven Square Station; install passing loop, and replace shelter at Sylfaen Station; reinstate siding to enable VIP trains and reconstruct a cattle dock at Cyfronydd Station; enlarge tea room and add EV charging points at Llanfair Station.

10.    Ceredigion County Council – Traws Cymru T2 & T5 CGI display screens – funding £128,000 

This joint project will see the installation of 'Smart' CGI display screens on Traws Cymru T2 & T5 CGI Display Screens showing public information in seven strategic locations along the West Wales Coastal Corridor and at bus stops serviced by the Traws Cymru T2 & T5 bus routes, between Fishguard & Porthmadog.

11.    Vale of Rheidol Railway Ltd – Devils Bridge Car Park funding £128,000 

The provision of a new 79 vehicle designated car park on land adjoining the Devil's Bridge station, improving access & visibility, and freeing the existing car park for coach parking.

12.    Powys County Council – Visitor Discoveries along the Cambrian Way – funding £128,000 

Igam Ogam focussed navigation along The Cambrian Way through creation of new orientation facilities, welcome points incorporating local materials and with landscaping and interpretation highlighting cultural and heritage aspects and walking/cycling/horse riding routes and site specific discoveries e.g. Monks Trod, Glyndwr's Way, Source of River Wye, Prince Llewellyn's story.
   

13.    Elan Valley Trust, Rhayader – Discovering Elan's Dark Skies – funding £67,384.80 

Improving facilities relating to the International Dark Sky Park status, including an exhibition & planetarium, measurement & observation equipment and a bespoke observation structure.

14.    Porthcawl Town Council – Newtown Beachside toilets – funding £96,000 

Installation of a modern pay to use toilet building at Newtown Beach, Porthcawl with 2 unisex cubicles, one of which will be accessible and separate service area with outside tap serving as a water refill station and suitable access surfacing around the building. Use of grey water for flushing toilets will be assessed if practical.

15.    National Trust – Creating WOW welcome at Marloes Sands – funding £119,953.68 

The Marloes Peninsular Visitor Experience project will include car parking improvements, replacement visitor welcome building, improved access track to Runwayskiln café & hostel, including improved disabled access, improved facilities for cyclists and improved signage & interpretation.

16.    Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority – Drinking Water Fountain Roll Out – funding  £22,400 

Drinking Water Fountain Roll Out – pilot a roll-out of drinking water fountains across seven key Pembrokeshire tourist destinations.

17.    Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority – Broad Haven Visitor Hub – funding £53,200 

Transform the Broad Haven car park into a visitor hub with a broad range of facilities, including highlighting its status as the Gateway to the national Park, bilingual signage & interpretation children's adventure space soft landscaping, shelter for picnics, outdoor shower facilities & water fountain and phone charging unit.

18.    City and County of Swansea – Making Caswell Bay an accessible destination – funding  £68,000 

To make the Blue Flag Caswell Bay, Gower an accessible destination for visitors, through the installation of a brand new, high-quality Changing facilities (with hoist, shower and changing bed) in the existing car park and investing in specialist beach equipment, such as floating beach wheelchairs, to allow all visitors to access and enjoy the water. A storage unit will also be purchased to store the new equipment safely. The project is fully supported by Swansea Council's and has received overwhelming support from local disability groups, Surfability UK, Keep Wales Tidy, RNLI and local businesses.   

19.    Carmarthenshire County Council – Pembrey Country Park facility improvement – funding  £100,000 

Improve visitor facilities at Pembrey Country Park, including a new accessible & baby changing toilet facility within a new wood clad building, and install new bilingual signage & map system, including directional, events and health & safety signage throughout the park.

20.    Carmarthenshire County Council – Museum of Speed, Pendine Sand Sport Court – funding £127,818.86

The creation of a sunken sand spot area to accommodate team tournaments, such as beach volleyball, beach rugby, beach football & beach handball, to compliment the Pendine Tourism Attractor Project.

21.    Pembrokeshire County Council – Tenby Harbour Arrive 365 – funding £128,000 

To replace Tenby Harbour sluice entrance stop logs with a gate that can be easily opened on demand, which will extend the operating season and create a year-round harbour excursion offer.

22.    Menter Bro Dinefwr, Llandeilo – Y Ganolfan – funding £128,000 

Create a new Welsh language-based visitor & information gateway, located on the ground floor of the historic county hall, with facilities for cyclists (being at the start of the new Llandeilo to Carmarthen cycle route). Providing digital resources, exhibitions & presentations, with links to the area's activities, attractions & history, with dedicated heritage & culture tours, whilst promoting the Welsh language in the community and the wider area.


23.    Neath Port Talbot CounciL – Vale of Neath Hub - Resolven Canal Basin Car Park – funding £128,000 

Conversion of the exiting toilet facility to deliver enhanced public toilet facilities, a café unit which will be put out to tender, landscaping of existing car park and a digital visitor information point.
