Neonatal calf diseases present a significant challenge to calf health, welfare, and farm profitability in the UK. A range of diseases contribute to morbidity and mortality aside from scour and pneumonia in calves during the first month of life. Many of these conditions are closely associated with poor colostrum management, poor hygiene at calving, and inadequate maternal nutrition.
