Haverfordwest Community Regeneration & Innovation Hub scoping study

Project Description:

To pilot a community regeneration hub in the Old Post Office, Haverfordwest. With professional help to undergo all site surveys, drawings and specifications to project manage the renovations. To enhance the business plan, and other planning tools, and legal/organisational model. When the hub is up and running – to collate all research and learning into a shareable ‘road map’.

Project Outcomes:

As a result of the pilot, further funding was secured in 2020 and, although Haverhub had to close as a venue due to covid-19 restrictions, renovations began in the autumn.  There are now four renovated rooms available for hire, ranging from The Depot, with a capacity of 550 people, for large parties or gigs/performances to the smaller Bar area that accommodates up to 90 people for community/private gatherings.  As renovations continue, the courtyard will become a community green space and garden and extend the public space.  Access to the river will be also be created, whilst retaining the safe seclusion of the walled garden.

Haverhub reopened to the public in July 2021 with a grand opening weekend (that sold out) and started hosting music gigs and events again.

“It was a fantastic weekend of music and food. So happy that Haverhub is up and running. How lucky are we to have this fabulous venue! Thanks to all involved in getting this far!”

Said Su Parker, 2021

Lessons Learned:

There was a long time between applying and getting starting, which meant that we had a building by the time the offer was made and the nature of the project had changed from a research and model-writing project to the development of an actual site
