Project Description:

This project will test feasibility for a number of boutique tours in north Pembrokeshire: to expand a range of visitor experiences to include many assets of the rural communities in this area. The project will develop opportunities for local communities and businesses to get involved as well as build a relationship with cruise companies, their managers and ground handlers to encourage them to expand their offering to the cruise market.

Project Outcomes:

The project tested a number of boutique tours in north Pembrokeshire to expand the range of visitor experiences and include the many assets of the rural communities.

Attractions and businesses of interest were approached and engaged whilst tour guests from the local community provided feedback on the service and experience.

Studying and measuring the outputs and outcomes throughout the pilot stage has enabled a structured plan to be put in place for next stage. Following further funding they now plan to start operating commercially.

‘Hidden away around north Pembrokeshire are attractions and businesses which will benefit from more people finding them on our tours’

‘The project has addressed the community need identified in the funding application having established a business model that allows visitors access to visit up to 320 visitor attractions through north Pembrokeshire and surrounding areas’.

Lessons Learned:

The project efficiently overcame the requirement to adapt the timetable due to unforeseen circumstances.

There was an original expectation that community councils would become involved in order to represent their communities, however this was not achieved.

The project has enabled the creation of a large database which will form the base for the commercial operation. This phase of the project lead to a good knowledge base in order to move on to the next stage.
