BRINGING A WILDWOOD TO LIFE

Located in the Cambrian Mountains, Bwlch Corog is a 140ha site consisting of moorland, acid grassland, a lovely area of ancient woodland, a river gorge and two upland streams.

The land is generally of low production value, being dominated by purple moor grass (Molinia caerulea), and with little wildlife interest. When the land was acquired for the project in 2017 it had been ungrazed for around six years.

The project set out to restore and improve the area’s wildlife and natural processes, with the aim being to expand the project area to 3,000ha over the long term, by working with neighbouring landowners and seeking opportunities for further land purchase.
