Bridgend Community Energy Challenge

Bridgend Community Energy Challenge was a project to nurture and inspire community renewable energy projects in rural Bridgend.  It included a website and guidance on developing community renewable energy projects.  There was an open call for a community group to start and be supported to develop a community energy project.  This was developed as a case study to lead other community projects to start.

The group chosen was Bryngarw Park Volunteers and they were helped to plan the installation of a solar photovoltaic array on their buildings.  It was a case study to look at the installation of renewable energy on community buildings in a post feed-in tariff (FITs) world.  The project included educational activities and materials to raise awareness about renewable energy and sustainability with volunteers and visitors.
