Community Renewable Transport

Reach formed a new LEADER network to promote community energy use in Bridgend, called Bridgend Community Energy Group.  The group were offered a free charging point for a community vehicle at Cenin Renewables based in Stormy Down Bridgend.  Cenin produces 3.4 MW of renewable energy from a large wind turbine, solar field and anaerobic digestion plant.  At times they struggle to return this large amount of energy to the grid, so would welcome some of that energy going to a community use.

The Bridgend Community Energy Group undertook a feasibility study to best see how the offer of free energy could create a renewable energy transport scheme in rural Bridgend.  This involves a desk study of current vehicles, full costings, route modelling and community consultation.
