The Evanstown Cenotaph and the surrounding area was in need of some repair work and also development in respect of the fallen servicemen’s names being on the actual Cenotaph. There was a plaque stating about the serviceman serving in WW1 and WW2 but it was very generic – no individual names appear. There were also access issues around the Cenotaph.
The Gilfach Goch War Memorial Trust had raised money for capital works to repair and improve the cenotaph, but needed to come to Reach for revenue money to pay for a surveyor to quantity survey the project and project manage it to completion.
