Income generation from printed resources

Over the last few years, the LAG have done a number of projects which have resulted in the production of literature, such as Vale Trails and Tracker Packs to name a few, Whilst these are replicated online as PDF’s and are available as Apps there is still a substantial demand for printed literature. The problem arises that the Vale of Glamorgan council will not be able to withstand the re-printing of this literature in time. It has also not been possible to find appropriate third parties to commit to this either.

When the Creative Rural Communities team have queried why charges and fees cannot be made for printed literature a number of barriers and questions have been raised, these include o Leaflet distributors would not be able to collect cash or payments o The amount of administration work required to charge for printed literature would outweigh the benefits of a charge. It is unlikely that consumer will pay or that the same amount would participate if there was a charge for the literature that is currently provided free of charge, therefore would decrease footfall and contribution.
