Live Conwy

We will bring together a group of young adults to lead and develop interest and energy around new ways to enjoy history, myth, legend, heritage and culture in rural Conwy.

  • The project will focus on using relevant concept based experiences in rural Conwy that bring together:
  • aspects of history, heritage and culture
  • local food and food businesses
  • positive life attitudes around wellbeing, mental health and community resilience
  • Welsh language through introducing individual words that capture imagination like Bendigedig, Pendwmpian, Iechyd da, Hiraeth etc.
  • good photography, cinematic filming and creative storytelling of the experience that will inspire engagement.

For example, a single guy taking his dog walking up Conwy Mountain, discovering the Iron age hill fort then writing about it in the Albion with a pint of Bragdy Conwy Rampart whilst his dog curls up by the fire. FatFace Conwy staff get Edward’s burgers and some kayaks head up to Llyn Geirionydd for a team BBQ, listen to music and play on the water.

These examples have different energy levels but show different aspects of what rural Conwy offers.

Every crafted experience film and story will live on the new LiveConwy Youtube channel site and on the project’s website area. They will also be put on the LiveConwy Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. They will also be promoted through social media networking and linking into:

  • #FindYourEpic
  • Year of Legends – Visit Wales
  • News outlets and channels like Daily Post, Quartz etc
  • Events Conwy
  • CVSC groups
  • local businesses and their sites
  • Universities and colleges across Wales and NW England
  • bloggers & local area groups
  • and more.

We will also feature experiences as part of a film, postcard/leaflet and Pinterest poster about great places to go and activities to do with your dog in rural Conwy.
Other themes may be:

  • 6 places to hang a hammock in rural Conwy
  • Hiraeth
  • Solitude days
  • Unique places to Cwtch in Conwy.

The young adults will all be involved in developing the ideas and in delivering the YouTube channel and the social media strategy. They will be involved in planning, filming, editing and producing the outputs. They represent a wide cross section including Welsh language speakers, disability, LGBT, ethnic backgrounds, mental health, young carers, young parents.

They will also engage other people as volunteers to be involved in the experiences and deliver the social media strategy.

We will work with young people from Venue Cymru projects to involve them in planning, experiences, promotion and delivery. We will also include Venue Cymru’s research and ideas around myth and legends in rural Conwy in the resources.

The project will run over six months and will deliver:

  • 20 cinematic motion films delivered on the YouTube channel and as Instagram stories
  • 10 fortnightly meetings of the young adults
  • 1000+ #LiveConwy posts and reposts across media platforms
  • a promotional advert/motion film
  • 6 Pinterest projects
  • 5,000 postcards/leaflets distributed through tourism sites and partner organisations and businesses.

Through our current projects we are confident that National Trust at Aberconwy House, CADW at Plas Mawr, Conwy chamber or trade, Llanwrst chamber of trade and others will partner with this project. We are happy to establish confirmation of this if required.
