Installing gateways facilitates change to knowledge, economic and business processes. Gateways allow data gathered by sensors to be processed centrally by a person, business or organisation. It is then up to those entities to process, identify and utilise that data.
We could detect temperature and humidity in barns to ensure livestock have an appropriate environment. We could detect against sound and moving objects in areas where livestock has been stolen. Using external sensors to embed into materials, we could monitor internal temperatures of compost heaps or piles of woodchips. If temperatures should get to a level where the material could combust, automatic notifications could be sent via text, e-mail or automatic phone calls to appropriate persons or organisations.
