Northern Rural Communities Feasibility Study

Whilst a lot of excellent work has been carried out by the LAG, who have supported 26 projects to date committing £444,535 to the rural communities Rural Development Programme (RDP) projects - Swansea, it is felt the Northern Rural wards could have benefitted more from the funding issued to date.

With this in mind, the LAG undertook a tender exercise to seek a suitable consultant to work with Swansea Council officers, and the communities of rural wards Pontarddulais, Mawr, Llangyfelach and Penclawdd to produce a feasibility study for each ward which will enable them to have a platform to apply for future funding. The feasibility studies for each ward will have to be in line with the Swansea Council LDS aims and objectives and incorporate our One Planet vision.

The scope for the consultant is to:

  • Work with CCS and the community council or associated community group for each area (as the client)
  • Engage with the community to identify and discuss possible development opportunities
  • Produce four feasibility studies – One for each area
