Rail Routes to Valley Views

This application will provide an excellent tourism resource and will make promoted routes accessible for the public to enjoy without the need of driving to the start and finding a parking space. The idea is that 'slow tourism' can be enjoyed using the good rail links that we are fortunate to have in this LAG area. Sustainable rural tourism and in particular ‘Slow Tourism’ is a central organising principle of the Welsh Government and of Caerphilly County Borough Council and as such, is at the heart of all the LDS’s intended activities.

The rural economy of Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent County Boroughs therefore has a vital role to play in ensuring that we develop a sustainable area. Developing a project that fits strategically with the aims and objectives of an ever increasing demand for low cost innovative tourism options whilst maintaining the needs of tourism and hospitality providers has been key to the development of this project. To deliver an option to draw day visitors to explore the countryside without impacting on the road networks and reducing carbon emissions.
