Discussion Groups
Farming Connect is looking for forward thinking farmers to be part of the new discussion group programme. The programme aims to develop knowledge and confidence on a range of management issues that will improve the economic and environmental sustainability of farm businesses. Group members will receive an innovative programme of meetings and activities that will support and drive change on farm.
The programme is split into 4 themes:
- Land – Grassland – focused on pasture management and grazing systems to increase and optimise use of pasture.
- Land – Arable and Horticulture – focused on optimising farm performance and technical efficiency.
- Livestock – focused on optimising livestock performance and minimising external inputs.
- Business – focused on optimising farm performance and management.
All themes have a focus of supporting businesses to become more economic and environmentally sustainable.
The programme is open to all farmers who want to develop their knowledge and skills, whilst sharing their experiences with other like-minded people. It provides support for everyone who wants to improve the economic and environmental sustainability of their business, through regional discussion groups.
Previous participants have been able to apply what they have learnt to reduce input costs, improve herd health whilst improving output. Therefore, if you’re wondering how you will maintain production whilst using less nitrogen fertiliser or concerned about changes to the farm support payments, then do something proactive and join the programme now!
