Nigel Nicoll

Nigel Nicoll CA is a senior level financial manager currently focussing on business planning, and assisting businesses and those looking to get into business to raise finance in difficult times.

Nigel has spent 40 years working in commerce, primarily troubleshooting with companies ranging from SME’s to multinationals, and particularly enjoys helping SME’s put structure round their entrepreneurial ideas in order to grow & develop.  Raising finance is often the biggest single issue they face, and he has a wealth of experience in fundraising, both loan and equity, financial management, & business planning, plus the contacts to ensure the best possible outcome, often from non-bank sources at very competitive rates.

Nigel became self-employed in the mid 1990’s following the successful turnaround and sale of a large drinks distribution company based in Yorkshire, working as part of a two man management team. He joined the NACFB in 2007 in order to access the many & varied sources of business finance available in this country as the clearing banks had effectively shut up shop. He incorporated Nicoll Financial Solutions Ltd at the same time, and since then has worked with numerous clients, both large & small.  He has also mentored on the initial Spark Up programme for early stage entrepreneurs in Liverpool.  Current clients include China Glory Agriculture Ltd, a start-up company intending to grow Chinese vegetables in the UK - substantial funding for that venture has been sourced in China.  Interim Care Homes Ltd is another start up, & will assist the NHS with its delayed discharge issues, but requires very significant capital sums, and this venture may ultimately be funded by venture capital.  In both cases NFS has done the business planning for the venture, taking it on from original idea, and is also active in sourcing the finance.

Nigel is now keen to use his skills & abilities to help entrepreneurial business owners to achieve their goals through the Business Wales mentoring programme.

Business top-tip

It’s not easy to gain a reputation for integrity in business, but it’s very easy to lose it.
