Richard Godfrey

A well connected, commercial and energetic hospitality and property professional with over 17 years' experience of entrepreneurship and business leadership in a multi-brand environment. Driven and ambitious with a focus on building long-lasting relationships and a passion for people, helping others to succeed through coaching and leadership.

Having set up A Space in the City in 2005 after dissolving a 14 month partnership in the same sector I grew the company from a one-man-band operation to employing 25 with annual turnover of £2.8m.  During this time, we have been FastGrowth50 twice.  A lettings division was added to the main serviced apartment business in 2013.  In August 2017 I contracted out the management of the portfolio and shut down that division down to focus on the growth of our core offering.

I also have business interests in property development and a property portfolio including commercial and holiday let accommodation both in the UK and abroad.

As with most built from scratch business owners at the SME level, I have a broad knowledge-base covering operations, sales, marketing, finance, employment/HR/management, strategy etc.  Not only have I grown a successful business, I have known when to close another and diversify when and where necessary.

I believe that I can offer others the benefit of my experience and having benefited from the worldly advice of others over the years, this is my chance to give something back.

As a founding Member of ENABLE, a mentoring and support board for entrepreneurs in various sectors and previous member of executive coaching and peer groups Vistage and BlueRock I am well positioned to offer advice and hold mentees accountable where necessary.

Selfishly, I would very much enjoy being involved in new ventures, run by energetic entrepreneurs.
